The Đà Nẵng International Marathon 2025 is set to take place from March 21-23, attracting over 7,000 participants from 72 countries, marking a record attendance in its 12-year history. The event will see an influx of nearly 3,000 international runners, a 42 percent increase from the prior year, providing a wonderful opportunity for participants and their families to enjoy a beach vacation in Đà Nẵng.
Athletes will compete in various categories including a full marathon (42 km), half marathon (21 km), a 5 km fun run, and the children’s ‘Ronny Dash’ over 500m and 1.5 km. Notable marathoners such as Shadrack Kipkemboi from Kenya, Issel Kawabata from Japan, and local talents including Phạm Ngọc Phan and Huỳnh Anh Khôi have confirmed their participation in the full marathon.
The event organizers have opted to eliminate the 10 km race to enhance participation in the full and half marathon categories. The coastal city continues to attract elite runners, and this year’s event coincides with the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Đà Nẵng City’s Reunification Day on March 29.
March is considered an ideal time for runners due to the cooler climate, making the Đà Nẵng International Marathon a perfect gathering for international athletes and their families. The event is anticipated to achieve a record in fundraising, with a target of US$20,000 to benefit local charities.
Dennis Zaborac, a veteran from the United States and a returning participant, has been instrumental in promoting fundraising efforts aimed at supporting the local community. The funds raised will be distributed to various charitable organizations such as the Plum Orphanage, the Đà Nẵng Association for Agent Orange victims, and the Village of Hope.
Last year’s victories in the men’s and women’s 42 km categories were claimed by Kenya’s Kiptoo Edwin and Vietnamese athlete Phạm Thị Bình, respectively. Furthermore, this marathon is the first in Vietnam to receive certification from the International Amateur Athletics Association and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
The Đà Nẵng International Marathon 2025 promises to be a landmark event with record participation and significant charitable contributions. With its scenic coastal route, competitive categories, and international recognition, this marathon exemplifies community spirit and athletic excellence. The collaboration of international runners and local support further cements Đà Nẵng as a premier marathon destination.
