Iraq and Libya Collaborate on Enhancing Election Management

In a recent meeting, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, the Chargé d’Affairs of the Iraqi embassy in Tripoli, met with Imad Al-Sayeh, head of the Libyan National High Commissioner for Elections. They focused on sharing experiences regarding election management and improving the skills of electoral staff in both nations.
Al-Sahaf highlighted the significance of a memorandum of understanding between Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission and Libya’s election authority, which aims to bolster cooperation in managing electoral operations. Both parties also discussed the necessity of exchanging visits to strengthen democratic practices.
Furthermore, Al-Sahaf expressed Iraq’s commitment to support Libya’s electoral processes, acknowledging the Libyan Commission’s efforts in promoting democracy. He noted that the Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq possesses extensive experience in conducting elections with integrity and transparency.
In response, Al-Sayeh emphasized the critical role of building effective international partnerships to enhance electoral systems and ensure integrity in forthcoming elections.
