Former Mayor Rajendra Prabhulall of Anna Regina Passes Away

Rajendra Prabhulall, former Mayor of Anna Regina and pastor, has died. He was an educator before serving as Manager at Lima Fish Port Complex and Regional Information Officer until retirement in 2015. He later ran for and won two terms as mayor, contributing significantly to his community.

Rajendra Prabhulall, the former Mayor of Anna Regina, has passed away. He was a pastor and dedicated public servant, having spent many years as an information officer in Region Two prior to his mayoral service. Prabhulall’s contributions to the community were significant throughout his life.

Born and raised in Essequibo Coast, Prabhulall attended St Laurence Anglican School and embarked on his teaching career at the age of 17. He began teaching at Fisher Primary School in 1976 before transferring to Port Kaituma Primary School in 1980, following his father’s job relocation.

In 1985, Prabhulall returned to the Essequibo Coast and continued educating students at Sparta Primary School, later at St Laurence Anglican Primary School. Seeking improved compensation, he departed from teaching in 1992 to manage the Lima Fish Port Complex for five years before transitioning to the role of Regional Information Officer, a position he held until his retirement in 2015.

Despite retiring, Prabhulall chose to engage in public service again by running for Mayor of Anna Regina in 2018. After his initial two-year term, he successfully sought re-election. Throughout his life, he also dedicated time to serve as a pastor at the Voice of Faith Ministries.

Rajendra Prabhulall’s legacy includes significant contributions to education, public information, and local governance in Anna Regina. His dynamic career showcased his commitment to serving the community, not only through teaching and administrative roles but also as a spiritual leader. His presence will be missed by many in the region.
