Iraq’s FCOI Seeks UNDP Support for Asset Recovery and Extradition Efforts
The head of Iraq’s FCOI, Mohammed Ali Al-Lami, has requested UNDP support to overcome challenges in asset recovery and extradition efforts. He underlined the need for enhanced training programs to equip investigators with the necessary skills in asset recovery and corruption investigations.
He also noted the ongoing collaboration with various international and regional organizations, including the UNDP, the European Union, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and Transparency International. Al-Lami expressed hope that these collective efforts would significantly enhance Iraq’s capacity to combat corruption and facilitate the recovery of misappropriated assets, ultimately benefiting development and reconstruction projects in the country.
