Qatar participated in an emergency Arab League meeting to address Israeli aggression against Palestinians. The meeting, initiated by Palestine, focused on urging international compliance with resolutions against Israel’s actions, while drafting a resolution emphasizing the importance of the ceasefire and international responsibility. 400 Palestinians have reportedly been killed amid ongoing violence and aid restrictions in Gaza.

On Wednesday, the State of Qatar participated in an extraordinary meeting of the Arab League’s Council, convened at the General Secretariat’s headquarters in Cairo. The session was called upon the request of the State of Palestine, focusing on the urgent need for Arab and international initiatives to halt Israeli aggression against Palestinian citizens in accordance with international law.

The delegation from Qatar was led by His Excellency Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari, the Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States. During the meeting, Ambassador Al Ansari condemned the brutal actions perpetrated by Israeli forces against Palestinian civilians, which he denounced as ongoing acts of genocide during the sacred month of Ramadan.

Ambassador Al Ansari emphasized that the meeting aimed to draft a resolution reflecting the principles of the Cairo Declaration from the Extraordinary Arab Summit held on March 4. This draft specifically condemns the recent acts of aggression by the Israeli forces and calls upon the global community to act in accordance with legal obligations from prior resolutions.

Furthermore, the draft resolution highlighted the necessity of consolidating the ceasefire agreement established in the Gaza Strip, achieved through the collaborative efforts of Qatar and Egypt. It underlined the need for continued support from relevant stakeholders and the monitoring by an Arab Islamic committee formed for this purpose.

The emergency session was convened in response to renewed acts of violence by Israeli forces, which resulted in over 400 Palestinian martyrs and numerous injuries within Gaza, exacerbated by the ongoing humanitarian crisis marked by power outages and restricted aid access.

In summary, Qatar’s participation in the Arab League meeting underscored the urgent need for international intervention to halt Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people. The drafted resolution seeks to affirm support for Palestine, condemn recent atrocities, and ensure the continuation of humanitarian aid while reinforcing ceasefire agreements established in cooperation with neighboring states. The critical discussion reflects a unified Arab response to the escalating violence in the region.
