Uncertainty Surrounds Bangladeshi Cricketers’ Participation in PSL 10 Due to Zimbabwe Series

The Bangladeshi players’ participation in PSL 10 faces uncertainty due to an upcoming Test series against Zimbabwe. Nahid Rana has requested a No Objection Certificate from the BCB, which is evaluating the situation considering current player workloads. This complex scenario affects not only Rana but also other players like Rishad Hossain and Litton Das who have been selected for the league.
The participation of Bangladeshi cricketers in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 is currently uncertain due to an impending Test series against Zimbabwe. Fast bowler Nahid Rana has formally submitted a request to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to enable his participation in the PSL. The BCB is evaluating Rana’s workload alongside the upcoming series before arriving at a decision.
Nahid Rana was selected by Peshawar Zalmi during the PSL draft. Peshawar Zalmi’s last league match is set for May 7, followed by eliminators and qualifiers, culminating with the final on May 18. Concurrently, the Zimbabwean team is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on April 15, with the first Test match commencing on April 20 in Sylhet and the second Test on April 28 in Chattogram.
Despite not being a World Test Championship series, the overlap with the PSL poses a challenge for the BCB’s decision-making process. Discussions within the board are ongoing regarding whether to grant Rana an NOC for the entire PSL season or only for a selected phase. Thus far, he has participated in only two out of five matches for the Abahani Cricket Team in the Dhaka Premier League for workload management.
In addition to Rana, other Bangladeshi players have also been selected for PSL 10. Rishad Hossain has been picked by Lahore Qalandars, while aggressive opener Litton Das was drafted by Karachi Kings.
In summary, Bangladeshi cricketers’ participation in PSL 10 hinges on the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s decision which considers both player workload and an upcoming Test series against Zimbabwe. As of now, the decision regarding Nahid Rana’s NOC and the involvement of other players remains unresolved, adding complexity to the situation.
