On March 18-19, 2025, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, conducted an official visit to Angola, engaging with H.E. João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, the President of Angola and Chairperson of the AU. The leaders exchanged insights on critical peace and security issues affecting Africa, notably the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Somalia, highlighting President Lourenço’s leadership in these matters.

The discussions underscored the significance of a united African Union approach to stabilizing ongoing conflicts and fostering political inclusivity to achieve sustainable peace and strengthen institutional frameworks.
