Blessed Geza, a prominent war veteran, has rejected his recent expulsion from Zimbabwe’s ruling party, ZANU PF, asserting that President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his allies ought to be the ones leaving. The party expelled Geza after he opposed the extension of Mnangagwa’s presidency beyond two mandated terms, which concludes in 2028.
In an online statement, Geza characterized the announcement of his expulsion by Patrick Chinamasa as unfounded, emphasizing that ZANU PF belongs to the historical legacies of ZIPRA and ZANLA. “No one can fire me. Instead, I have fired Mnangagwa and his 2030s from ZANU PF,” he declared, asserting his loyalty to what he considers the true ZANU PF.
Geza dismissed the validity of his expulsion, claiming it stems from a party version that he does not recognize. He criticized the current administration for exacerbating Zimbabwe’s economic crisis and warned that future generations would blame their predecessors for the ongoing strife. “We cannot continue to live under economic bondage… Our grandchildren will never forgive us if we don’t condemn these charlatans,” he cautioned.
Furthermore, Geza called for President Mnangagwa’s immediate resignation, citing misgovernance and the dire state of the nation as substantial reasons for his demand.
