Expanding their outreach, GAYO incentivizes local households by supplying designated bins for waste separation and establishing buy-back centers. These centers compensate waste collectors for recyclables, which are then sold to industries for raw material. GAYO’s leadership comprises individuals aged 35 and below, fostering innovation through initiatives like the African Climate Change Innovation Challenge, funding sustainable community solutions.
During an Earthshot Awards event, Prince William expressed interest in GAYO’s projects, demonstrating support for their community efforts. The awarded prize money is designated for expanding their impactful model to additional countries, including Uganda and Botswana.
