Salunda has implemented groundbreaking Red Zone monitoring solutions on four offshore drilling rigs in Guyana, collaborating with Intellilift to ensure real-time safety through innovative digital interfaces connecting equipment and personnel. This project, a first in the industry, provides instant alerts and precise location tracking to protect workers in hazardous zones. The partnership aims to transform safety protocols in offshore drilling operations.

Salunda has successfully integrated its Red Zone monitoring solutions across four offshore drilling platforms in Guyana, utilizing Intellilift’s advanced digital technologies. This collaboration signifies the inaugural implementation of a real-time digital interface linking wearable sensors, drilling controls, and machinery, enabling immediate alerts for personnel in hazardous zones. It features precise, real-time tracking of equipment location, velocity, and status, enhancing safety measures in offshore drilling operations.

The partnership blends Intellilift’s platform with Salunda’s CrewHawk system to create a low-latency digital interface through the Motion Trigger and Equipment Status (MTES) module. This innovative setup monitors potentially dangerous work environments by tracking the movements of individuals and equipment, with the digital interface facilitating access to the drilling automation suite, including machinery status and positioning.

Alan Finlay, CEO of Salunda, stated that “this is a significant step in the evolution of offshore safety equipment” and underscored the importance of ensuring crew safety in high-risk areas. He highlighted that the advanced integration captures and logs movement data, which significantly protects personnel in critical safety zones during operations.

Salunda’s Hawk Analytics platform allows users to analyze data, identify trends, and create heatmaps pinpointing areas of frequent safety violations. This reporting capability aids in coaching crews and improving safety practices.

Stig Trydal, CEO of Intellilift, emphasized the pressing demand for new technology in the industry and remarked on the willingness of operators to embrace market disruption. He noted that their collaboration with Salunda showcases how innovative companies can challenge established technology leaders, hinting at a promising future for their partnership.

This initiative represents the second collaboration between Salunda and Intellilift, following their initial partnership in August 2024 aimed at enhancing safety and automation in well construction. Salunda’s solutions offer real-time monitoring of high-risk work environments, providing anonymized feedback focused on safety and risk mitigation. Users of the Crew Hawk system, certified with MET, IECEx, and ATEX standards, are empowered to establish safe working perimeters in high-risk areas.

The integration of Salunda’s Red Zone monitoring solutions with Intellilift’s technologies marks a pivotal advancement in offshore safety. By facilitating real-time data tracking and monitoring, this collaboration significantly enhances safety protocols for personnel in hazardous environments. The innovative approach not only protects workers but also offers the promise of transformative changes within the offshore drilling sector.
