The World Happiness Report 2025 was released on March 20, coinciding with the International Day of Happiness. For the eighth consecutive year, Finland has secured its position as the happiest country. Among Central Asian nations, Kazakhstan attained the highest happiness ranking.

The report evaluates several factors, including gross domestic product per capita, life expectancy, social support, personal freedoms, corruption levels, and community generosity. Accordingly, the Central Asian standings are:
– Kazakhstan: 43rd (an increase of 6 places)
– Uzbekistan: 53rd (a decrease of 6 places)
– Kyrgyzstan: 75th (no change)
– Tajikistan: 90th (an increase of 2 places)
– Turkmenistan: Not included in the ranking.

In a broader context, the United States did not qualify for the top 10 and is ranked 24th, while Russia climbed to 66th place. Conversely, Ukraine dropped to 111th place. Afghanistan was reported as the unhappiest country, ranking 147th, accompanied at the bottom by Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.
