The Women’s National Selection Committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has convened a training camp for 19 players as part of their preparations for the Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier set to occur in April. This step follows an initial gathering of 33 players in Faisalabad last month to kick off training efforts for the tournament.

Notably, player Tuba Hassan has been excluded from participation due to a fractured finger, while all-rounder Nida Dar has resumed training. The players attending the camp include Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Fatima Sana, and several wicket-keepers: Muneeba Ali, Najiha Alvi, and Sidra Nawaz, among others.

The Qualifier will be hosted at Gaddafi Stadium and LCCA ground in Lahore, comprising six teams: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, Thailand, and the West Indies, as per an ICC report. The top two teams will secure a position in the Women’s Cricket World Cup slated for later this year in India.

Commencing on March 21 and concluding on March 30, the preparation camp will be held at the Ghani Glass Academy in DHA, Lahore. The training will include net sessions and 50-over practice matches, with head coach Muhammad Wasim overseeing and supported by other coaches from the national women’s team.

In summary, the Pakistan women’s cricket team is intensifying its preparations for the upcoming Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier. The inclusion of 19 players in the training camp, alongside the return of Nida Dar and the absence of Tuba Hassan, highlights the team’s efforts to finalize the squad. The tournament will feature six teams, with the top two qualifying for the World Cup in India later this year.
