In response to the incident, Renaissance Group, which oversees the oil consortium, confirmed the pipeline explosion and indicated that a joint investigation team has been dispatched to the scene. Tony Okonedo, a spokesperson, conveyed this information to Reuters. Additionally, the Rivers State Police Command announced the apprehension of two individuals associated with the explosion.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that a comprehensive inquiry is underway to ascertain the cause of the explosion that sparked a fire. Fortunately, she noted, the fire, which broke out within a mangrove area, has been contained, minimizing further environmental repercussions.
