Argentina has welcomed the conclusion of Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty negotiations, praising both nations for their efforts. Despite successful talks, tensions arose due to Azerbaijan’s unfounded accusations against Armenia. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reiterated readiness to formalize the peace agreement.

Argentina has expressed its support for the completion of negotiations regarding a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Argentine Foreign Ministry, in a statement on X, stated that it applauds both nations for their dedication to achieving a peaceful resolution of their conflicts. The ministry further expressed hope that this process will lead to the development and well-being of both countries, fostering stability and prosperity within the South Caucasus region.

On March 13, Armenia and Azerbaijan announced the successful conclusion of their peace treaty negotiations. However, shortly thereafter, the Azerbaijani government initiated a widespread disinformation campaign, accusing Armenia of attacking its military positions near the border. The Armenian military has vigorously denied these accusations, and the Azerbaijani authorities have failed to present any credible evidence to support their claims. Notably, the European Union monitoring mission in Armenia also refuted reports of shooting incidents along the border. Additionally, Azerbaijan has imposed certain preconditions, insisting on amendments to the Armenian constitution, alleging it contains territorial claims against Azerbaijan, and calling for the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group.

On March 20, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reaffirmed his country’s willingness to sign the peace agreement with Azerbaijan, stressing the importance of moving forward in the peace process.

Argentina’s endorsement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace negotiations highlights the diplomatic support for regional stability. While the peace treaty discussions have concluded, subsequent tensions, including accusations from Azerbaijan, raise concerns. Armenia’s commitment to the peace agreement reflects a desire for resolution amidst ongoing challenges in the region.
