The Cheetahs of Benin, coached by Gernot Rohr, lead Group C after a 2-2 draw with Zimbabwe. They currently hold eight points, surpassing Rwanda and remaining close to South Africa. Despite a strong start in the match, Benin failed to secure an away win, continuing a three-year streak without an away victory.

The Cheetahs of Benin Republic, coached by former Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr, currently lead Group C in the Super Eagles World Cup qualifying standings. This position is due to their recent 2-2 draw against Zimbabwe, which brought their points total to eight across five matches, placing them ahead of Rwanda, currently at seven points. South Africa, set to play against Lesotho, also stands at seven points, while both Nigeria and Zimbabwe have three points each, awaiting Nigeria’s clash with Rwanda this evening in Kigali.

In the match against Zimbabwe, Benin initially surged ahead with a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from captain Steve Mounie in the 12th minute and an additional goal from Dokou. However, Zimbabwe’s Warriors, demonstrated resilience, managing to equalize through goals by Munetsi and Knowledge Musona. This draw continues a troubling trend for Benin, marking three years without an away victory in international matches.

The Benin Cheetahs currently sit at the top of Group C following their draw against Zimbabwe. Despite their promising start, the team has yet to secure an away victory in three years. As the World Cup qualifying rounds progress, the standings remain competitive, particularly with Rwanda and South Africa close behind Benin.
