INS Tushil, India’s latest guided missile stealth frigate, has wrapped up its first visit to Dakar, Senegal, which involved significant discussions on naval cooperation. The visit featured a Subject Matter Expert Exchange and a joint Yoga session, attracting significant local interest. The trip ended with a Passage Exercise with a Senegalese naval vessel, enhancing interoperability between the two navies.

INS Tushil, the Indian Navy’s newest guided missile stealth frigate, has successfully concluded its inaugural port visit to Dakar, Senegal. This visit has contributed to the strengthening of bilateral relationships between India and Senegal. Captain Peter Varghese met with Rear Admiral Abdou Sene, Chief of Staff of the Senegalese Navy, to discuss enhancing naval cooperation and maritime security initiatives during a three-day stay.

The visit featured a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE), which highlighted the Indian Navy’s NISHAR – MITRA terminal, alongside a joint Yoga session with members of the Yoga Association of Senegal and personnel from the Indian Navy. Approximately 150 visitors, including members of the Indian diaspora and the local community, toured the ship, emphasizing the Indian Navy’s expanding influence in the region.

As INS Tushil departed from Dakar, it engaged in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Senegalese naval vessel PHM Niani. This visit underscores the value of collaborative efforts in promoting regional security and marks a crucial development in improving interoperability between the two navies.

The successful completion of INS Tushil’s inaugural visit to Dakar, Senegal, signifies a positive advancement in the bilateral relationship between India and Senegal. Through discussions on naval cooperation and a series of collaborative activities, both nations are poised to enhance maritime security in the region.
