NA Speaker Addresses Harvard Students on Pakistan’s Challenges and Opportunities

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq praised the dedication and sacrifices of Pakistan’s security forces, which have incurred over 90,000 losses in efforts to defeat terrorism, affirming the need to eradicate such threats comprehensively.
Additionally, he addressed the existential challenge of climate change, highlighting that despite contributing only 0.06% of global emissions, Pakistan is severely affected. He urged developed nations to reduce their carbon footprints and support developing countries like Pakistan, which bear significant environmental burdens.
Mr. Sadiq outlined the significant progress made by the National Assembly regarding modernization and digitalization, emphasizing efforts to improve legislative processes, including the establishment of a law drafting council. He also mentioned initiatives aimed at empowering youth, which include hands-on legislative training for over 5,000 interns and engaging them in Mock Parliaments.
Moreover, he spoke about the transformation of the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services into a premier training center for legislators, which enhances parliamentary expertise in governance. The Parliament House has also achieved the status of the world’s first Green Parliament, reflecting a commitment to environmental sustainability.
