Taking over from Nangolo Mbumba, who served for 13 months following the passing of Hage Geingob, Nandi-Ndaitwah previously made history as the first woman to serve as vice president and is fully committed to her new role. “I am prepared,” she affirmed, highlighting the readiness instilled in her by the Swapo party as they appointed her.

Her recent election as the president of Swapo interpreted her as the ruling party’s presidential candidate for the 2024 elections. In a recent statement, Nandi-Ndaitwah articulated her administration’s vision for economic growth, enhanced agricultural practices, and infrastructure development—aiming for substantial progress in these sectors over her term.

Moreover, Nandi-Ndaitwah outlined the necessity for legislative amendments to facilitate her administration’s goals, emphasizing, “One of them is the Land Act,” indicating the prioritization of land management in Namibia. Alongside food security, she aims to utilize 130,000 hectares of unutilised land during her presidency.

Ahead of her inauguration, Nandi-Ndaitwah examined government green scheme projects and resettlement farms to assess land usage and inform her policies. She expressed hope that her cabinet appointments will prioritize effective resource management for enhanced service delivery.

Nandi-Ndaitwah’s overall objective is to balance government sectors to ensure successful governance in Namibia under her leadership, emphasizing the need for operative collaboration between the legislative and executive branches. She is dedicated to delivering substantial outcomes for the citizens of Namibia.

In conclusion, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s inauguration as Namibia’s first female president marks a significant milestone for the country.
