Zelensky confirmed upcoming meetings between Ukrainian and Russian representatives with U.S. officials in Saudi Arabia scheduled for Monday to discuss Ukraine’s future, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Zelensky articulated to the media that Ukraine remains skeptical about Russia’s acceptance of a ceasefire agreement, stating, “We are trying to take steps in the right direction.” This assertion came during a press conference in Oslo, where he was accompanied by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.
This visit marked President Zelensky’s second official trip to Norway, where he held discussions with Norwegian officials, including Finance Minister and former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, and Defence Minister Tore Sandvik. Prime Minister Store highlighted the importance of Ukraine’s participation in ceasefire negotiations, stating, “A strong European voice is important when discussing Ukraine’s future.”
In early March, the Norwegian parliament sanctioned an increase in humanitarian aid to Ukraine by 50 billion Norwegian kroner (approximately $47.2 billion), elevating the total aid to 85 billion Norwegian kroner by 2025. According to Prime Minister Store, these funds will support artillery ammunition, drones, and investments into Ukraine’s domestic defense industry.
