JCSC Delegation Courteously Visits Seychelles Head of State

On March 21, 2025, the JCSC delegation, led by Brigadier David Chesire, visited Seychelles, meeting President Wavel Ramkalawan. The delegation discussed strengthening defense partnerships and received guidance regarding duty and patriotism. The visit featured collaboration among military leaders from various nations, reinforcing regional security efforts.

The Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) commenced its regional study tour focused on enhancing security through industrial capacity and defense partnerships. On March 21, 2025, the delegation, led by Deputy Commandant Brigadier David Chesire, engaged in a courtesy visit to the Republic of Seychelles, hosted by His Excellency President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House in Victoria.

Brigadier Chesire expressed gratitude to President Ramkalawan for the warm reception while acknowledging the strong ties between Kenya and Seychelles. He also conveyed appreciation for the support extended by various Seychellois institutions throughout the delegation’s visit, reflecting the spirit of cooperation.

In his address to the delegation, President Ramkalawan imparted important guidance to the student officers, stressing the significance of dedication, loyalty, and patriotism. He urged them to “remain true to your countries and your commitments,” advocating for diligence in their duties to foster security and prosperity for their respective nations.

The event featured the presence of high-ranking officials, including Major General Michael Rosette, the Chief of Defence Forces of the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces, along with other senior military personnel. The Kenyan delegation also included Colonel Lois Wataka, the Kenya Defence Attaché, faculty staff, and student officers from various African countries, such as Kenya, Burundi, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia.

The visit by the JCSC delegation to Seychelles highlights the commitment to enhance regional security through defense partnerships. The interactions between Brigadier Chesire and President Ramkalawan underscore the importance of international cooperation, as well as the dedication to nurturing the next generation of military leaders. This initiative not only strengthens bilateral relations but also promotes a collective approach to security in the region.
