Senator Prince Moye has been honored as the political “Godfather” of Bong County for his leadership and contributions to the region’s development. During the recognition ceremony, he was urged to foster unity and initiate development initiatives. Moye affirmed his influential role, and his journey in politics has seen significant accomplishments and community support.

On March 22, 2025, Senator Prince Moye was officially recognized as the political “Godfather” of Bong County during a ceremony held at the Dominion Christian Fellowship Center in Gbarnga, organized by the Prophetic Call to Ministry Like Mind Pastors. His leadership and commitment to the county’s development were praised, emphasizing his significant contributions since entering politics.

Bishop Minikon E. Nyenpan, president of the organization, commended Senator Moye’s dedication to Bong County’s growth and encouraged him to leverage his new title to foster unity and initiate further development initiatives. He proposed organizing a county-wide reconciliatory conference to enhance cooperation among political figures in the region.

Bishop Nyenpan noted the historical detachment of religious leaders from politics in Liberia, asserting that this has allowed non-Christians to dominate the political landscape. He called for a greater involvement of the church in shaping the political future of Liberia.

In expressing gratitude for this honor, Senator Moye attributed his title of political “Godfather” to his successful 2020 senatorial election. He pledged to pursue unity, though he acknowledged possible resistance to reconciliation efforts within the county. Moye stated, “If you do not believe, I am the political godfather of the county, it is important that you go under truck.”

Moye reinforced his position by asserting that he has held the title of “Bong County Political Godfather” since his election in 2020, remarking, “It’s not something that can be undone. If you want to reverse it, you’ll have to jump under trucks.”

The recognition came as a boon to Moye, a vital figure in the Unity Party, and also received affirmation from the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC). CDC chairman Sayblee Weyea publicly congratulated Moye, acknowledging the importance of political unity in Bong County despite differing ideologies.

Moye’s political career commenced in 2011 with a successful bid for Jorquelleh District Representative. His electoral triumph against seven opponents, including notable figures, marked the beginning of his transformation of Bong County, as he garnered 80 percent of the vote.

From 2011 to 2017, Moye focused on development, securing over 20 projects for his district. He was re-elected in 2017 and further elevated to Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2018, earning cross-party respect despite being in the opposition.

The 2020 senatorial race showcased Moye’s resilience as he won against significant opposition, achieving a historic feat by securing 50 percent of the vote across all seven political districts of Bong County, thus heralding a new political era for the county.

Following his electoral success, Moye’s influence continued to flourish, exemplified by his role in securing Joseph Boakai as the Unity Party’s standard bearer in 2022 and his appointment as National Campaign Chair for Boakai’s presidential bid in 2023, solidifying Bong County’s prominence in national discourse.

Senator Prince Moye’s recent designation as the political “Godfather” of Bong County underscores his influential role in the region’s political landscape. His dedication to development initiatives and advocacy for unity among political figures reflects a commitment to progress. Historical context shows his rising influence, marked by significant electoral victories and cross-party respect. Moye’s leadership will likely shape Bong County’s political future for years to come.
