Kuwait Identifies Over 600 Donation-Raising Violations During Ramadan

Kuwait reported over 600 violations of donation-raising rules in Ramadan’s first half, including illegal advertisements, unlicensed collections, and social media solicitations. Authorities are enforcing regulations to ensure compliance and enhance charitable efforts during this holy month.

Kuwaiti authorities have identified over 600 violations pertaining to donation-raising regulations in the initial half of Ramadan. This period has seen heightened efforts to regulate charitable activities in the country. The Ministry of Social Affairs reported that these infractions included 41 advertisements about donations that did not comply with established guidelines and 16 additional ads from non-compliant charities.

Additionally, there were eight recorded violations by individuals and groups promoting donation solicitations through unauthorized street advertisements. The authorities also uncovered 233 unlicensed clothing collection booths, with their locations communicated to the Kuwait Municipality for prompt action.

Furthermore, violations included the solicitation of donations without proper licenses. Notably, 24 restaurants and companies were found collecting donations via social media without authorization. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has been alerted to address these infractions.

One restaurant had illegally called for donations to fund an Iftar project, resulting in two dozen violations. Moreover, 22 infractions concerning donation-raising websites were reported to the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority. The ministry also detected six violations within mosques, which included advertising for donation collection without necessary prior permission.

Additionally, a donation collection box was seized due to lack of licensing, a situation relayed to the Ministry of Waqfs and Islamic Affairs. As Ramadan is recognized as a significant period for acts of charity, these regulations aim to ensure that charitable efforts are conducted in a legal and organized manner.
