President Marcos Welcomes New Ambassadors from Colombia, Cambodia, and Ukraine
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. welcomed new ambassadors from Colombia, Cambodia, and Ukraine, indicating a strong desire to enhance diplomatic relations. The discussions focused on cooperation in various sectors and collective efforts to promote peace and prosperity between the countries.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed optimism for enhancing diplomatic ties as he welcomed new ambassadors from Colombia, Cambodia, and Ukraine at separate ceremonies in Malacañang. He received the credentials of Ambassadors Edgar Rodrigo Rojas Garavito, Sin Saream, and Yuliia Oleksandrivna Fediv, respectively, emphasizing the potential for collaboration across various sectors.
During his meeting with Ambassador Garavito, President Marcos remarked, “I believe there’s more that we can do, that we can explore many other sectors, and strengthen and deepen the relations between our two countries,” underlining the importance of bilateral relations established on July 5, 1946, which currently includes approximately 100 Filipinos residing in Colombia.
Cambodian Ambassador Sin Saream conveyed a commitment to enhance cooperation between the Philippines and Cambodia for the collective well-being of both nations. President Marcos welcomed this endeavor, stating, “I welcome you to the Philippines and I look forward to even stronger relationships between our two countries and to strengthen what is already a very strong union between our two countries.” Diplomatic relations have existed since August 20, 1957, with around 7,500 Filipinos now living in Cambodia.
Ukrainian Ambassador Yuliia Oleksandrivna Fediv indicated her readiness to foster bilateral relations, focusing on initiatives that promote peace and mutual respect. President Marcos responded positively, affirming, “We hope to continue – we will always support you in your efforts for peace.” The Philippines and Ukraine have maintained diplomatic relations since April 7, 1992, with approximately 24 Filipinos currently residing in Ukraine.
Through these meetings, President Marcos Jr. has reinforced his administration’s commitment to strengthening international relationships with Colombia, Cambodia, and Ukraine. The dialogues signify a collective intention to explore collaboration, enhancing cooperation for mutual prosperity, and addressing global peace initiatives.
