Cambodian Ambassador Sin Saream conveyed his dedication to improving Manila and Phnom Penh’s cooperation for mutual benefits, to which Marcos responded enthusiastically, saying, “I welcome you to the Philippines and I look forward to even stronger relationships between our two countries and to strengthen what is already a very strong union between our two countries.” Diplomatic ties between the Philippines and Cambodia began in 1957, with approximately 7,500 Filipinos living in Cambodia as of June 2024.
Furthermore, Ukrainian Ambassador Fediv communicated her readiness to advance bilateral relations, focusing on “collective efforts that promote peace, prosperity, and mutual respect across borders.” Marcos assured her of support, expressing commitment to discussing efforts for peace, acknowledging, “We hope to continue – we will always support you in your efforts for peace.” Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Ukraine have existed since 1992, with around 24 Filipinos residing in Ukraine at this time.
