Although she has faced a slow ascent in her reggae career, she proudly represented Trinidad at the festival in Taranaki following the carnival in Trinidad and Tobago earlier this year.

Raised in San Fernando, Queen Omega has dedicated her life to music. While her dub plate featuring a Dr. Dre tune garnered attention, she believes it played a significant role in introducing her to a broader audience. “It really did a great thing because a lot of people who don’t listen to reggae get to know who Queen Omega is. I was grateful because it feels good to know that after all those years that I’m now getting some traction,” she stated.

She has performed with legendary figures such as Buju Banton and Don Carlos, artists she admired while growing up. “I give thanks for the pioneers before because if it wasn’t for Bob Marley and all the legendary singers before, I would not get the inspiration to do reggae,” she shared. Queen Omega emphasizes that success in reggae does not require conforming to stereotypes. “Because when a lot of women see me now, then they would know we could do it. We don’t have to show skin. We could perform,” she concluded, forging a powerful message for aspiring women artists.
