Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has vowed a strict crackdown on drug trade in Koro Island, emphasizing community involvement and self-discipline. At a recent school event, he urged students to uphold lawfulness, while various accolades were presented to outstanding cadets.

In a decisive move, Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has addressed the villagers of Koro Island, announcing a vigorous campaign against drug cultivation and distribution. He stated that the police will not show leniency towards those involved, emphasizing the need to dismantle the drug trade and ensure accountability through the legal system.

At the recent Koro High School Pass-out Parade, Tudravu urged students and community members to maintain discipline and prevent the infiltration of illegal activities, thereby fostering a safer environment. He asserted, “The Fiji Police Force will not rest until there is no marijuana on this island. If you’re cultivating it, we will find you, until you give up on these illegal activities.”

Furthermore, he highlighted the essential role of self-discipline, advising students to avoid unlawful actions, particularly those related to drugs. He noted the discipline required for success, emphasizing, “Some of you are already familiar with cadet training; the key to today’s success has been discipline and obeying one command. I plead with you all, protect the school and its name, this island, and proud reputation of Koro.”

The past year marks the second participation of Koro High School in the cadet training program, where various accolades were awarded. Uluikade House was recognized as the best platoon, Apenisa Ledua of Koroibola House earned the title of Male Platoon Commander, while Simeli Cokanasiga from Kuitarua House was named the best male cadet. Melissa Koroi from Uluikade House was acknowledged as the best female cadet, and Sevai House received the Best Overall award. Jona Vibose, the Parade Commander and head boy, was honored with the baton of honor.

Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu’s commitment to eradicating drug activities on Koro Island marks a significant step towards enhancing community safety. Through education and discipline emphasized within the local school, the police aim to cultivate a resilient stand against illegal drug trade. The recognition of exemplary students further reinforces the values of discipline and accountability in combating illicit activities.
