Fiji’s men’s national 7s team won 26-21 against the USA in their first Hong Kong 7s match. The Fiji Airways men’s national 7s team triumphed over the United States with a score of 26-21 during their opening pool match at the Hong Kong 7s at Kai Tak Stadium. Despite facing robust resistance from the Americans in the first half, Fiji managed to score tries through Filipe Sauturaga, captain Jeremaia Matana, and Joji Nasova, resulting in a tied score of 14-14 at halftime.

In the second half, Fiji gained the lead with a converted try from Joji Nasova, bringing the score to 19-14. As the match intensified, newcomer Sikeli Basiyalo scored a try that extended Fiji’s lead and closed off the Americans’ attempts to reclaim the game. The USA responded with a converted try by Jack Wendling, finishing the match at 21 points.

Fiji’s head coach, Osea Kolinisau, commended the USA for their strength and highlighted the team’s defensive efforts during the match.
