Tata Motors has launched three electric vehicles in Mauritius: the Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV, in partnership with Allied Motors. The models feature larger battery packs than earlier versions. The Tiago EV shows a slight range improvement, while upcoming vehicles include the Harrier EV and Safari EV, reflecting Tata’s expanding EV strategy.

Tata Motors has made significant strides in the Mauritian automobile market by introducing three of its electric vehicle (EV) models: the Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV, in collaboration with their local partner, Allied Motors. This marks a notable expansion, as Mauritius is the first nation outside the SAARC region to receive Tata’s EV offerings, following Sri Lanka’s introduction of both internal combustion engine (ICE) and EV models.

The Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV are equipped with their respective larger battery packs available in India. The details of each model’s specifications are as follows:

– Tata Tiago EV:
– Battery Pack: 24 kWh
– Power: 75 PS
– Torque: 114 Nm
– Claimed range (C75): 190-210 km

– Tata Punch EV:
– Battery Pack: 35 kWh
– Power: 122 PS
– Torque: 190 Nm
– Claimed range (C75): 270-290 km

– Tata Nexon EV:
– Battery Pack: 45 kWh
– Power: 144 PS
– Torque: 215 Nm
– Claimed range (C75): 350-375 km

Notably, the claimed range for the Tiago EV in Mauritius is enhanced by 5 km compared to its Indian counterpart, while the Punch and Nexon EV models remain consistent with their specifications in India. Despite some powertrain variations, no significant changes have been made to the features and safety equipment of these vehicles.

In addition to these three models, Tata Motors has two other offerings in India, the Curvv EV and Tigor EV, which are yet to be launched in Mauritius. Moreover, Tata’s ambitions extend further with plans for upcoming releases such as the Harrier EV, Sierra EV, and the all-electric Safari, which is poised to be their flagship model for the EV sector.

Tata Motors’ introduction of the Tiago EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV in Mauritius marks a strategic expansion into the electric vehicle segment beyond the SAARC region. While the powertrains exhibit minor adjustments, the vehicle specifications largely align with Indian models, showcasing Tata’s commitment to bringing quality EV options to new markets. The company also prepares for further EV launches, indicating a robust growth trajectory in this emerging automotive landscape.
