The Houthi group reported 12 airstrikes by the US-UK coalition targeting Amran province in northern Yemen, with previous strikes also noted in Sanaa and Al-Hudaydah. This escalation follows recent attacks by Houthis on US and Israeli targets, reflecting an intensifying conflict in the region.

On Friday, reports from the Houthi group indicated that an American-British coalition conducted 12 airstrikes on the Harf Sufyan district in the Amran province of northern Yemen. This information was disseminated by the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV channel, although it lacked details about potential casualties or damage resulting from the attacks. There has been no immediate response from officials in the United States or the United Kingdom regarding these reported airstrikes.

The Houthi group has maintained control over Amran since 2014, a province situated approximately 50 kilometers north of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa. In addition to the recent strikes in Amran, the Houthis reported six airstrikes targeting Sanaa, Amran, and Al-Hudaydah, pointing to an escalation of conflict in the region.

This uptick in military activity follows the Houthis claiming an attack on the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier in the northern Red Sea, along with subsequent missile and drone assaults on Israeli targets in southern and central Israel. These actions were purportedly in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has experienced significant casualties since the onset of hostilities on October 7, 2023.

Since the commencement of 2024, a coalition led by the United States has been executing airstrikes aimed at Houthi positions in Yemen, as a countermeasure to the group’s attacks in the Red Sea. The Houthis have occasionally retaliated against these operations.
