Civil society organizations in Balaka have formed a district chapter of the Civil Society Elections Integrity Forum (CSEIF) to ensure free and credible forthcoming general elections. Led by Eastern Region Chairperson Sammy Aaron, the committee prioritizes transparency and protection of voters’ rights. Misheck Kafandikhale has been appointed chairperson, promising to ensure a violence-free electoral process.

In a concerted effort to guarantee free, fair, and credible general elections in Balaka, civil society organizations have successfully elected members to the district chapter of the Civil Society Elections Integrity Forum (CSEIF). The Eastern Region Chairperson, Sammy Aaron, indicated that the committee aims to foster transparency, accountability, and integrity, while also preventing electoral violence and safeguarding voters’ rights.

Aaron emphasized the forum’s mission to empower diverse stakeholders, thereby equipping them to ensure that the upcoming elections uphold the standards of fairness and credibility. He strongly urged the newly-elected members to maintain a non-partisan stance and highlight the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders, such as the media, traditional leaders, faith leaders, and civil society entities in facilitating a peaceful electoral environment.

As an outcome of this election, Misheck Kafandikhale has been appointed chairperson of the CSEIF-Balaka chapter. In his acceptance speech, Kafandikhale expressed his commitment to work diligently towards ensuring that the polls scheduled for September 16 are devoid of violence and uphold fairness and credibility.

The electing of members to the CSEIF in Balaka reflects a proactive approach by civil society organizations to ensure electoral integrity. With a focus on transparency and collaboration among stakeholders, the CSEIF aims to empower critical community players.
