Esmaeil Baghaei, Foreign Ministry spokesman, disclosed this information to Press TV on Saturday, revealing that Araghchi’s trip to Pakistan will begin on Monday.
The discussions in Pakistan will primarily revolve around strengthening bilateral ties and addressing key regional and international issues, Baghaei emphasized. Moreover, after engaging with Pakistani officials, Araghchi will officially visit India later in the same week. This series of visits comes at a critical time following increased tensions between Pakistan and India resulting from a terrorist attack in Indian-administered Kashmir that occurred on April 22, which tragically took the lives of 26 individuals.
India has attributed blame for the attack to Pakistan, a claim that Pakistan firmly denies. To address the escalating situation, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reached out to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 26, condemning the attack while emphasizing the importance of cooperation in fighting terrorism.
Additionally, Pezeshkian spoke with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the same day, expressing his worries over the rising tensions between the two neighbors in light of the recent violence. In a further effort to contribute positively to the situation, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi also held a conversation with Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, on April 26, reiterating Tehran’s willingness to assist in mitigating tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad.
