Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has stated that the India-China border situation is ‘stable but sensitive’ and confirmed that there are no buffer zones along the Line of Actual Control. Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has characterized the current condition along the India-China border as “stable but sensitive,” asserting that there are no established buffer zones along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). He emphasized that following several meetings, including high-level discussions between Prime Ministers of both nations, progress has been made regarding disengagement at key areas such as Depsang and Demchok, completed in October 2022.
General Dwivedi elaborated on verification patrols, which have been conducted satisfactorily by both sides, and confirmed mutual agreements regarding grazing grounds. He noted that although temporary moratoriums were established during negotiations to reduce potential violence in contested areas, they do not constitute buffer zones.
The General specified, “As far as the grazing ground is concerned, they have now mutually agreed upon,” indicating a cooperative approach to managing border tensions.
