Peace in Sudan Hindered by Conflict and the Pursuit of Victory

Gbemboyo reported the deaths of innocents caught in the crossfire, as government forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) harbor suspicions against civilians regarding their allegiances.

The violent clash in Sudan has persisted since April 15, 2023, igniting hostilities between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the paramilitary RSF headed by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo. Previously allies in ousting President Omar al-Bashir in 2019, their relationship deteriorated, leading to a deadly power struggle that has uprooted millions and decimated lives, bringing about a severe humanitarian crisis.

The conflict in Sudan has led to dire humanitarian conditions, with over 11.5 million people displaced. The United Nations reports that approximately half the Sudanese population requires urgent humanitarian assistance, battling extreme shortages of necessities such as food, water, and medical supplies.
