Equatorial Guinea Engages Egypt for Armoured Vehicle Acquisition
Equatorial Guinea has signed a contract for Kader armoured vehicles from Egypt’s Kader Factory, including Kader-2 and Kader-1 models for its National Security Ministry. This follows a visit by Vice-President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue to Egypt in June 2024, which also initiated police training cooperation between the two nations. The acquisition aims to bolster Equatorial Guinea’s defense capabilities.
Equatorial Guinea has secured a contract for the acquisition of armoured vehicles from the Egyptian Kader Factory for Developed Industries, as reported by El-Watan on January 11. The chairperson of the factory, Amr Abdel Aziz, indicated that the deal includes an undisclosed number of Kader-2 armoured vehicles and Kader-1 riot control vehicles intended for the Ministry of National Security in Equatorial Guinea. Notably, the Kader-2 model, initially called El-Daraa (Shield), was introduced to the public in December 2024.
The armoured vehicles will enhance the security capabilities of Equatorial Guinea’s government, particularly in the areas of national security and public order. This procurement follows a significant diplomatic visit by Vice-President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, who oversees defense and security matters, to Egypt in June 2024. Furthermore, the contract represents the first outcome of Kader Factory’s strategy to expand its production capabilities for international markets, extending beyond local military needs.
