Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met with international counterparts from Zimbabwe, Yemen, Ethiopia, Gambia, and Gabon at Aero India 2025. At Aero India 2025 in Bengaluru, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh engaged in discussions with defence ministers from several nations, including Zimbabwe, Yemen, Ethiopia, Gambia, and Gabon. The meetings aimed to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation through various initiatives and signed agreements, ultimately fostering closer ties among the nations involved.
During the bilateral meeting with Zimbabwe’s Defence Minister, Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri, both parties assessed their existing defence collaboration. They agreed to enhance their partnership through military training, courses, and capacity building, resulting in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that seeks to promote deeper ties and successful implementation of cooperative measures.
In discussions with Ethiopia’s Defence Minister Aisha Mohammed, both officials expressed satisfaction with their growing defence relationship and agreed to formalize this through an MoU. This agreement aims to facilitate cooperation in military training, peacekeeping efforts, and capacity enhancement for the Ethiopian Armed Forces while also exploring increased collaboration in defence production involving India’s private sector.
Engagements with Yemen’s Lt Gen Mohsen Mohammed Hussein Al Daeri focused on extending military training and capacity building initiatives. During these discussions, both leaders underscored the importance of deepening defence cooperation and encouraged the advancement of bilateral partnerships in these areas.
In his meeting with the Gambia’s Defence Minister Sering Modou Njie, the two reaffirmed their resolve to enhance defence collaboration. Emphasizing capacity building and capability enhancement, they acknowledged the potential for mutual benefits and cooperation within the defence sector.
Finally, Singh met with Gabon’s Defence Minister Brigitte Onkanowa to discuss various aspects of bilateral defence cooperation. The talks encompassed training and capability enhancements of the armed forces while both parties acknowledged the promise of future collaboration within the defence industry.
The bilateral meetings at Aero India 2025 signified the commitment of nations such as Zimbabwe, Yemen, Ethiopia, Gambia, and Gabon to enhance their defence collaborations with India.
