The fourth edition of the Italy-Tanzania Business Forum was inaugurated at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam. This significant event was attended by representatives from Italian and Tanzanian companies and institutions, including Fabrizio Lobasso of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mahmoud Kombo, the Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Giuseppe Coppola, the Italian Ambassador to Tanzania.
The event received support from various organizations such as Confindustria, Assafrica e Mediterraneo, Associazione Nazionale Costruttori Edili (Ance), FederUnacoma, and Confindustria Meccanica Varia (Ucima), along with the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC). Over the course of the two-day forum, Italian companies showcased their operations, aiming to identify potential partnerships with Tanzanian counterparts.
Ambassador Coppola commented on the forum’s significance, stating, “The Business Forum is a particularly successful example of integrated promotion… The objective is to offer Tanzania financial, insurance, and promotional tools to increase its competitiveness in international markets.” This initiative aims to foster direct exchanges between Italy and Tanzania, free from any intermediaries that might hinder collaboration.
Giuseppe Manenti, Director of ICE Nairobi, remarked on the successful promotional initiatives, which included the Innova Lab training for local agribusinesses and the ‘Adi Compasso d’Oro’ exhibition. He noted that these activities collectively aim to present the excellence of Italian industries to Tanzanian audiences, paving the way for fruitful collaboration between the two nations.
