Iran and Lebanon’s foreign ministers are ready to discuss the cancellation of flights between Tehran and Beirut. The cancellations were influenced by Israeli threats, leading to protests in Lebanon. Both sides are eager to improve bilateral ties and protect national sovereignty against external pressures.

The foreign ministers of Iran and Lebanon expressed their willingness to resolve the cancellation of two civilian flights from Tehran to Beirut, prompted by pressures from the Israeli regime. In a recent phone call, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Lebanese counterpart Youssef Rajji explored potential solutions to this issue.

The Lebanese Roads Minister had ordered the cancellations due to Israeli claims that the flights were meant to transport funds to the Hezbollah resistance movement. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei condemned these Israeli threats, stating they constitute a violation of international law and Lebanon’s sovereignty, which has disrupted flights to Beirut Airport.

The Lebanese government’s decision to bar Iranian flights led to protests near the airport. During the conversation, both ministers also discussed the state of bilateral relations and regional developments. Mr. Araghchi congratulated Mr. Rajji on his recent appointment and expressed well wishes for the Lebanese government’s success.

The two diplomats emphasized the need to enhance bilateral relations across political, economic, commercial, and cultural domains based on mutual respect to achieve common goals. Furthermore, Iran’s Ambassador to Beirut, Mojtaba Amani, indicated that Tehran would accept alternative flight proposals from Lebanon, conditional upon the absence of obstacles for Iranian airlines.

In summary, the foreign ministers of Iran and Lebanon are committed to addressing the recent cancellation of flights, which arose due to external pressures. They reaffirmed the significance of cooperation between their nations. The ongoing dialogue demonstrates the desire to maintain open channels amidst regional tensions and to foster better relations in various sectors.
