During the meeting, Ambassador Zuhairi Misrawi stated that Prince Khaled exhibited a keen interest in the proposed cooperation. Furthermore, Megawati and Prince Khaled addressed the pressing issue of Palestinian independence, highlighting Indonesia’s historical advocacy for Palestine—echoing the sentiments of Soekarno at the 1955 Asia-Africa Conference in Bandung.
Megawati, who had recently attended the World Leaders Summit on Children’s Rights at the Vatican, emphasized the plight of war-affected children in Palestine. She was joined by her daughter, Puan Maharani, the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, and Prince Khaled was accompanied by several UAE ministers.
