Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, is scheduled for an official visit across four nations: Uruguay from February 28 to March 2, the Bahamas from March 2 to March 4, Barbados from March 4 to March 6, and Nicaragua from March 6 to March 8, 2025. This visit aims to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation between India and these nations.
In Uruguay, Minister Margherita will represent India at the swearing-in ceremony of the President-elect, Yamandu Orsi, scheduled for March 1, 2025. Following this, his visit to the Bahamas is intended to build upon discussions between the Prime Ministers during the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit held in Guyana in November 2024.
While in Barbados, Minister Margherita will review bilateral relations after the successful India-CARICOM Summit and will accept the “Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados” on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which was conferred during the summit.
The final stop in Nicaragua marks a significant occasion as it is the inaugural Ministerial visit from the Ministry of External Affairs. Minister Margherita will engage in bilateral meetings, interact with political and industry leaders, connect with the Indian Diaspora, and visit development partnership project sites.
