Odyssey Arrives in Brazil: A Milestone in World Cruise Journey

The Odyssey has arrived in Brazil as part of its world cruise, docking in Santos for three days. With nearly 250 residents onboard, it will visit approximately 15 Brazilian destinations, including a notable stop in Rio de Janeiro during Carnival. The vessel highlights its unique living experience after a refurbishment, emphasizing cultural appreciation in its travels.
The Villa Vie Residence’s Odyssey has made its way to Brazil this week as part of its extensive world cruise that began three and a half years ago. The vessel, which departed Buenos Aires, Argentina, on February 18, 2025, is now docked in Santos for a three-day visit starting from February 24, 2025. With nearly 250 residents aboard, the Odyssey plans to explore approximately 15 destinations across Brazil over the following month.
Following its departure from Santos on February 26, the Odyssey will visit several locations, including Ilhabela, Paraty, Ilha Grande, Búzios, and Cabo Frio. A significant highlight of this itinerary is a three-day stay in Rio de Janeiro coinciding with the city’s vibrant Carnival festivities, as well as stops in the Amazon region. Additional ports on the schedule include Maceió, Fortaleza, and Belém.
Rodrigo Lopes, the hotel manager of Odyssey, expressed enthusiasm about the cruise’s arrival in Brazil, noting, “We are very excited to visit Brazil, spending nearly one month in the country.” The vessel embarked on its first world circumnavigation after leaving Europe in late September and aims to visit nearly 150 countries and over 425 destinations during this journey.
Lopes shared his philosophy on travel and exploration, stating, “There’s something I always tell my passengers and crew when I’m onboard: the world is a beautiful place. Every place and every culture have its beauty. It’s a matter of knowing how to look and having an open mind to appreciate the beauty that people hold in their culture.”
Formerly known as the Braemar and operated by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, the Odyssey was acquired by Villa Vie in late 2023. The vessel underwent extensive refurbishment in Northern Ireland, emerging as a modern 23,344-ton vessel equipped with unique amenities, including new public spaces and a designated office area for guests, thus introducing a novel living experience onboard.
In summary, the Odyssey’s arrival in Brazil marks a significant milestone in its global voyage, allowing residents to experience the diverse culture and festivities of the country. The vessel’s itinerary promises exciting visits, particularly during Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, and emphasizes the beauty of global cultures. Furthermore, the refurbishment of the Odyssey enhances passenger experience, reflecting Villa Vie’s commitment to innovation in cruise travel.
