The Netherlands cricket team has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 matches scheduled to take place in Namibia from March 5 to 13. The team will play two One Day Internationals (ODIs) against the hosts, Namibia, on March 7 and 13, alongside two matches against Canada on March 5 and 11. All games will be held at the Wanderers Sports Club in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.

Notable selections in the squad include Fred Klaassen, who will participate in his first 50-over match in nearly two years, and Zach Lion-Cachet, who has received his first ODI call-up. Players Brandon Glover, Shariz Ahmad, and Clayton Floyd will not feature in this squad despite participating in a recent bowling camp in Cape Town. Netherlands head coach, Ryan Cook, expressed optimism about the squad’s balance and adaptability to the playing conditions.

Ryan Cook stated, “We are looking forward to our first WCL2 fixtures of 2025 in Namibia. The squad has put in extensive preparation in the Netherlands over the winter and during a camp in Cape Town in February which has seen some great improvements and the team is ready to meet the challenges ahead.” Currently, the Netherlands holds fifth place in the 2024–2026 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 points table with 14 points earned from 12 games, consisting of seven wins and five losses.

To secure a place in the upcoming global qualifying tournament for the Men’s ODI World Cup 2027, which will be co-hosted by South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe, the Netherlands must achieve significant victories on their tour of Namibia. The Netherlands squad previously participated in the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup in India, where they finished in tenth place after winning two matches, including a noteworthy win against South Africa, amidst seven defeats.

In summary, the Netherlands cricket team is preparing for important matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 in Namibia with a well-selected squad. Key players returning and debuting are poised to make significant contributions. With the need for multiple victories, the team’s performance in Namibia will be critical for their chances to progress in the World Cup qualification standings.
