The quake struck at approximately 2:35 AM, with its epicenter located in the Bagmati area of Nepal. Districts such as Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, and others along the Indo-Nepal border experienced noticeable tremors that lasted for just a few seconds.

Meteorologist Umesh Kumar Singh from the Bihar government’s Disaster Management Department reported that despite the intensity of the quake, there were no immediate reports of property damage or causalities. The tremors were felt not only in Muzaffarpur but also extended to Siwan, Patna, Gopalganj, Saran, along with West and East Champaran.

The earthquake of 5.5 magnitude that struck Nepal was felt distinctly in various districts of Bihar on February 28, 2025.
