Egypt Denounces Formation of Parallel Sudanese Government Amid Ongoing Conflict
Egypt has rejected attempts to create a parallel government in Sudan, stressing that such moves threaten the country’s unity and integrity. Amidst nearly two years of conflict between the army and the RSF, Egypt, joined by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, has condemned these actions while urging for political processes that respect Sudan’s sovereignty.
On Sunday, Egypt firmly opposed any initiatives aimed at establishing a parallel government in Sudan, emphasizing that such actions threaten the nation’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. For nearly two years, Sudan has been embroiled in conflict between its military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), leading to a humanitarian crisis labeled by the United Nations as one of the most severe in recent history.
The RSF, along with its allies, had recently signed a charter in Kenya, proclaiming the formation of a “government of peace and unity” in regions under their control. In response, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry articulated its position, denouncing these attempts as detrimental to Sudan’s stability. The statement highlighted that such maneuvers exacerbate the humanitarian situation and impede progress towards unifying political perspectives in the country.

Despite previous allegations of the United Arab Emirates supplying arms to the RSF, the UAE has remained silent on this issue.
