The provinces of Azilal, Beni Mellal, Midelt, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, and Al Haouz are expected to receive substantial snowfall ranging from 10 to 15 centimeters. Additionally, Ifrane, Boulemane, Taroudant, and Chichaoua are projected to experience 5 to 10 centimeters of snow during the same period.

This severe weather is exacerbating the existing hardships faced by individuals in Al Haouz, as evidenced by viral videos showcasing the extreme conditions impacting makeshift shelters. Following the intense earthquake, which resulted in approximately 3,000 fatalities and thousands more injured, many residents are struggling amid freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall.

In response to the crisis, the Moroccan government has established a fund supported by contributions from citizens, businesses, and numerous donors. In January of the previous year, they announced that 56,000 families adversely affected by the disaster have received financial assistance for rebuilding homes, with a completion rate of 95% on reconstruction efforts funded by about MAD 1.4 billion.

Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch confirmed that more than 53,000 construction permits have been granted to the families directly impacted, indicating that 90% of the surveyed population in Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Marrakech, Taroudant, Azilal, and Ouarzazate is being addressed effectively.
