South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir has dismissed three undersecretaries in critical ministries. The officials, including John Samuel Bwogo from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Lam Tungwar from Energy and Dams, and Dr. Harriet Akello Pasquale from Health, no longer hold their positions as per a statement from the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Cooperation (SSBC).
The decree did not provide reasons for these dismissals but announced new appointees. Agnes A. Osawa will take over as the undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Madu Acuil Mayuen will step into the role for Energy and Dams, and Dr. Anin Ngot Mou will lead the Health ministry.
In a separate decree, President Kiir appointed several technical advisors to various ministries, including Daniel Awow Chuang for the Ministry of Petroleum, Dr. Cosmas Pitia Kujo for Mining, and Simon Kimon Ladu for Finance and Planning. This strategic reshuffle aims to enhance the functioning of these critical sectors in the government.
President Salva Kiir’s recent administrative changes involve the dismissal of three undersecretaries and the appointment of new officials. The move reflects a potential shift in the governance approach within South Sudan’s ministries. Additionally, the introduction of technical advisors may reinforce the government’s operational efficacy in various sectors, including petroleum and finance.
