Collins Dauda of the Hajj Board declared that Ghana’s Hajj fare is the lowest in the region at GHS 62,000 ($4,100). The fare significantly undercuts that of neighboring countries which charge over $5,000. No additional reductions are planned, and payments must be completed by March 13 for the limited 5,000 pilgrim slots available.

Collins Dauda, the Chairman of the Hajj Board, has announced that Ghana offers the most affordable fare for the Hajj pilgrimage among its neighboring countries. The fare for Ghanaian pilgrims is set at $4,100, equivalent to GHS 62,000, which is significantly lower than the over $5,000 fares charged by countries such as Senegal, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, and Nigeria. This competitive pricing reflects a commitment to making the pilgrimage accessible to more individuals in Ghana.

During a recent press briefing held at the inauguration of a new passport office at Hajj Village, Mr. Dauda clarified that there are currently no plans to further decrease the Hajj fare. He emphasized that the $4,100 fare is the final amount and stated, “Not that I know of, the fare we have announced is GHS62,000. But you must know that in the sub-region, Ghana’s fare is the cheapest.”

Additionally, Dauda informed attendees that the deadline for the payment of Hajj fares is set for March 13. He highlighted the government’s plan to facilitate travel for only 5,000 pilgrims, urging agents to closely monitor payments to avoid a situation where individuals are unable to embark on the pilgrimage after making payments. He remarked, “We don’t want a situation where somebody will pay and is unable to go…”

To ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience, the Hajj Board is implementing strict oversight concerning the number of pilgrims. Mr. Dauda reiterated that once the quota of 5,000 pilgrims is reached, no further payments will be accepted. This strategic approach is designed to enhance the pilgrimage process and protect the interests of potential pilgrims.

In summary, Collins Dauda announced that Ghana’s Hajj pilgrimage fare is the lowest in the sub-region at $4,100. He confirmed that there are no plans to reduce this fare further. The government will only accommodate 5,000 pilgrims, urging agents to monitor payments closely to ensure a smooth travel experience.
