Morocco has reaffirmed its commitment to nuclear and radiation safety at the IAEA’s Board of Governors meeting. The Kingdom emphasizes regional cooperation by sharing expertise with African nations and enhancing its legal frameworks in alignment with international standards. Morocco has trained experts from 21 countries and continues to strengthen its regulatory frameworks.

During the recent Board of Governors meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Moroccan diplomat Farhane reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing nuclear and radiation safety cooperation among African nations. He expressed Morocco’s dedication to sharing its expertise while actively collaborating with regional and international partners to bolster the global nuclear safety framework and further the objectives of the IAEA.

Farhane highlighted the significance of the IAEA Director General’s report concerning nuclear safety reviews in 2025, which reflects Morocco’s contributions toward improving regional capabilities. He pointed out that Morocco has successfully trained experts from 21 African member states, providing various workshops and training sessions aimed at elevating nuclear safety standards across the continent.

He emphasized Morocco’s adherence to the principle that nuclear safety is the sole responsibility of state governments, in line with their national obligations and international commitments. To this end, he noted the Kingdom’s continued efforts to enhance its legal framework regarding nuclear and radiation safety and security, ensuring alignment with IAEA safety standards.
