Nigeria has received its first supply of Belarusian agricultural machinery, including tractors and equipment, as part of a cooperation agreement to modernize its agriculture. This initiative aims to improve mechanization, increase food production, and provide training to farmers in advanced farming techniques.

On March 5, 2025, Nigeria received its initial shipment of Belarusian agricultural machinery, comprising 2,000 tractors and more than 9,000 pieces of agricultural equipment. This delivery is part of a comprehensive cooperation agreement signed in September 2024, aimed at modernizing Nigeria’s agricultural sector. As reported by DNE Africa, a partner of TV BRICS, this initiative signifies a significant step towards enhancing agriculture in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, affirmed the arrival of this machinery, emphasizing that this partnership with Belarus will facilitate the adoption of mechanized agriculture, boost food production, and improve overall agricultural efficiency. The plan is to provide Nigerian farmers with modern tools that will help increase crop yields and overall food production.

Moreover, the agreement encompasses training programs conducted by Belarusian agricultural experts. These programs aim to elevate the skill set of Nigerian farmers by teaching them advanced mechanized farming techniques, thereby fostering a more sustainable and productive agricultural environment in Nigeria.

The receipt of Belarusian agricultural machinery marks a transformative moment for Nigeria’s agricultural sector. Through enhanced mechanization, increased training opportunities, and modern equipment, Nigeria aims to elevate its agricultural productivity and improve food security. This partnership highlights the importance of international cooperation in addressing significant agricultural challenges.
