At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Malaysia further advanced its digital transformation by signing 19 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between local companies and international technology leaders. Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching stated that these agreements signify a commitment toward innovation particularly in technology, artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, and telecommunications, adding that she hoped the MoUs would benefit the citizens of Malaysia.

Teo expressed confidence that participation in MWC would enhance international recognition of Malaysia’s potential. Noteworthy collaborations included one between CelcomDigi and Ericsson, focusing on enhancing the oil and gas industry through 5G technology. Additionally, CelcomDigi partnered with Huawei to create an AI-powered fixed-mobile convergence network.

Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) entered into partnerships with Ericsson to spearhead 5G technology adoption and with META to improve the quality of experience at the DNB Experience Centre. Moreover, YTL Communications joined forces with Equinix for global AI cloud enablement and sustainable AI infrastructure, while Maxis collaborated with Huawei on accelerating digital intelligent transformation.
