Jaishankar encountered a security breach when a pro-Khalistan extremist approached his convoy in London. The protest occurred as Jaishankar departed from the venue.
A video circulating on social media depicts the protester aggressively rushing towards Jaishankar’s vehicle, taking advantage of the police’s initial hesitation. Following his act of vandalism, police intervened and removed him, along with other pro-Khalistan extremists, who were protesting nearby and chanting slogans.
In addition to addressing security matters, EAM Jaishankar participated in discussions at Chevening House, meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy. The discussions encompassed various bilateral topics, including strategic cooperation, trade negotiations, education, and technology. Jaishankar subsequently defended India’s stance on Kashmir at Chatham House, asserting that there is no need for third-party intervention.
Jaishankar highlighted India’s initiatives in Kashmir, referencing Article 370’s abrogation, economic growth in the region, and high electoral participation. Furthermore, he articulated that the primary unresolved issue remains the territory currently under illegal Pakistani occupation, asserting, “I think the part we are waiting for is the return of the stolen part of Kashmir, which is under an illegal Pakistani occupation. When that’s done, I assure you, Kashmir solved.”
